A recent analysis shows that Colorado is the most interested and open to microdosing and psychedelics, based on search results. Oregon and Vermont also rank highly in this regard.
Given that both Colorado and Oregon have legalized psilocybin, commonly known as "magic mushrooms," these findings are not surprising. The analysis, conducted by mushroom spore specialists SporesMD, examined over 900 search terms related to psychedelics over the past year, highlighting the states most receptive to microdosing and psychedelics.
Top States for Psychedelic Interest
Colorado leads with an average of 1,557 searches per 100,000 residents each month, which is 53% higher than the national average of 1,015 searches per 100,000 people. The most popular search terms in Colorado include ‘dmt,’ ‘shrooms,’ and ‘what is ketamine.’
Oregon follows closely with an average of 1,502 monthly searches per 100,000 people, 48% above the US average.
Mississippi ranks the lowest in terms of residents' interest in microdosing and psychedelics, followed by Louisiana and Iowa. Mississippi has a monthly average of only 661 searches per 100,000 residents, 35% below the national average. Louisiana shows 21% less interest than the national average, with only 802 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
Notable Findings
Vermont residents make up 0.65% of psilocybin spore-related orders, which is more than three times their population percentage of 0.19%.
Alaska residents are responsible for 0.33% of purchases, a 50% increase from their 0.22% share of the US population.
These states show significant interest, with their order percentages far exceeding their population percentages, placing them in the top ten for interest in psychedelics.
Insights from SporesMD
Anthony Bautista, CEO of SporesMD, commented:
“It’s interesting to see the states most into microdosing and psychedelics, and how this compares to our sales data. This could reflect how open-minded residents are to the concept of psychedelic trips and their preference for how they experience this."
Methodology
The data was gathered via Google Keyword Planner, which provided nationwide and state-specific searches for over 900 keywords and phrases related to psychedelics and microdosing, such as ‘magic mushrooms for sale,’ ‘microdosing shrooms,’ and ‘psilocybin microdosing treatment.’
Conclusion
SporesMD's analysis highlights the states most interested in microdosing and psychedelics, with Colorado, Oregon, and Vermont leading the way. This interest is reflected in both search data and sales figures, indicating a growing openness to the potential benefits of psychedelics. As legalization and research continue to evolve, it will be fascinating to see how these trends develop and influence public perception and policy.
